Last month, i had the chance to leave the nation and cross the sea for the first time in my life. Me and my mom were in Dubai for a week with Dad (He's currently working there).
We landed in Sharjah and after Visa-Eye Scan-Baggage Claim, we went out. It was around 10:30 pm and dad was waiting for us. We hired an airport taxi. Since we were a family, we were allotted a lady driver. She was wearing an Emirati dress. I didn't realize it was her uniform. After a couple of minutes of me looking at the road and all three of us being very quiet, she started speaking.
Introducing herself as Raziyah, she asked my dad, in perfect English, the details about the destination. And then, she said, "Where do you think I'm from?" I was like Whoa! My dad was wondering what to say, when she said, "Just tayik a guess..."
Aha. My dad pounced on the accent and switched to fluent Malayalam, "Chechi Naatla evada?".
"Hahaha Ottapaalam. Ningal?"
"Tamil Nadu. Coimbatore"
She switched to Tamil...
"Nan valandadu ellam Palakad dan. Moonu varusham Thanjavur la irundhom. Marriageku apram Ottapaalam". Turning to my mom, "Coimbatore la "Gundu Malli" neraiya kadaikkume, enakku romba pidikkum. Indha oorla mallila andha manam illa".
Mom: "Aiyaiyo, therinjirundha neraiya vaangi vanthiruppene..."
Raziyah: "Enakku "Kannadi Valayal"um romba pidikkum".
Mom: "Next time ungalukku kandippa vaangittu varen".
Raziyah: :"Inshallah".
She then went on explaining about how she and her husband had relocated to Sharjah and their life there. Then we reached our hotel and it was time to say goodbye. My mom got her contact details and promised to bring her "Gundu Malli and Kannadi Valayal" the next time. She'd already found a friend.
A wonderful start to the trip.

Satyameva Jayate
There's that time in your life when you actually realise that all the dreams that you had as a child, like easily becoming the best man in the world, will remain just dreams. At around the same time you also realise the importance of ”hard work”. You work hard enough, you might just achieve one tenth of the stuff that you dreamt about. This is the truth that stares back at you when you look into your future. There are always ways to work around this truth, that tempt us. It is important to avoid these temptations. The problem arises when competing with those who get seduced by these temptations. Let us hope that the Truth Triumphs.

Back from the dead?
I'm done with the first year of college now. Maybe 1/4th a mechanical engineer....
My last post was like two years back. I never really thought that i'd sit and write again, but here i am!
Today, with nothing much to do, i sat down and started reading my old posts and realised it was all childish. That's not who i am now. This blog doesn't do justice to the present me. The very title of the blog was the name of a song i'd been really crazy about back then. So i set about changing the design and stuff in the blog and before i knew it, i'm here, typing this post.
It feels like a burden off my shoulder now that the blog is back and running (hopefully). Goodbye for now.

Slithering SAM!!!
Welcome back Folks! A hurray for the exams that got over. My last ever Quarterly. No regrets and am not looking forward to any more. Didn't expect any Hols, still they gave us this week off. No regrets again.
Yesterday, I was in my room reading Kane and Abel, when this uncle who lived next door banged on the door. Me and ma bro hurried out and saw that he'd come in some sort of anxiety and pointed over to our EB box. There he was! Mr.SAM. Saw the three of us and moved elegantly to the side of our house. Well over 5 feet long and the uncle was sure it was a cobra. Boy, was I excited! Ran into the house to fetch ma camera. By the time, Sam had already found his way to our backyard and was exploring the rose bushes and was slithering to and fro. Went straight to the terrace(safety you see) and clicked him. Got a pretty good shot. Meanwhile the truth seemed to dawn on Sam. There was just one way into our house and he had to take the same way out. BUT, he'd been spotted by the three buggers and they were blocking his way(atleast that's what he thought)! Fear came over and after roaming about, Sam found a nice cool Hollow Block and managed to curl himself into it.

We (the buggers), called up the Emergency Snake Helpline(never knew it existed until yesterday), set up by the Coimbatore City Police and reported the matter to the officials. A waste of a call. They said they were away; Didn't have vehicle... and such crap. We called up the neighbours who brought with them some hope and courage for the three of us! Feeling like Snake Shyam(very famous snake expert of mysore. There's a Documentary bout him made by Discovery. Check it out), I took an old walking stick and climbed onto the compound wall. I am very talented at walking and even running along compound walls after ample experience from bets with my bro and cousins. Another uncle came with me, and the two brave warriors went to face the wrath that Mr. Sam had to offer. The others kept a watch for us from the terrace. Took the two of us over 45 mins to make Sam lift his head out and peep at us. He came out with a hood, that I'd only seen in TV before! Boy, what a sight! Flicked out my cam and took that great shot.

After a bit of water spraying and things he found his way out into the wilderness where he belonged. I already started missing him. Poor old slithering SAM, what is gonna happen to him? I don't know. Don't wanna guess. Let me believe he's happy with others of his kind. I'll remember him for the rest of my life.
Everything's now back to normal and even the gap under the gate through which Sam came in has been fixed. So, Life does go on...

Buttered Cat Paradox.... :D
I was at Quiz Trac this year and the event was awesome. My brother won a cool 5000 bucks and we were celebrating. There was this one question in the finals that really fascinated me. It was about Murphy's law and that the bread always fell the butter side down. I didn't know anything about the law then and felt it was real cool. Back home I started researching it and found all about it. But then, I also found this:

The Buttered cat paradox!
Now this, is absolutely brilliant.... Cats fall on their feet and the bread falls the butter side down. So tie a bread with the butter facing up onto the back of the cat and drop it from a height. Each tries to land and hence start rotating. This goes on forever, thus creating perpetual motion.
There are a lot of funny videos on this in youtube. Now this is TRUE SCIENCE, but they don't teach these in school....Boo.

I still have a laugh at these.....
Well, I have a blog that's been wasted all along till date, but i've decided to start writing. I'll start with something that "has" to be published. All these are memories that're still fresh in ma mind.
This happened when i was in eleventh, just stepping into the world with hopes and dreams. All those great feelings lasted about a week after which the teachers started bullying us with some hell of lessons. There was a particularly annoying maths mam, who had this great talent of being able to keep talking without a break for the entire 40 mins. The tragedy was that there used to be two consecutive maths classes and then she would do 80 at a streach. At one such extremely boring class, hardly two or three guys were listening to her sermon(she was in great form, when we were nearing 60 mins), Prasanna, sitting(or rather dozing) suddenly looked at me and Shanta and came up with that good old dialogue, "Yaaru petha pullaiyo!!! Thaniya ninthu kathikitriku!!!".....
Then there was this other great incident in the same 11th. We were supposed to have a much awaited free hour, when the same old maths mam walked in and said she'd take class!!!!!
Almost everyone started mumbling and protesting when Prasanna turned to me (and Shanta) and came up with this......"Tharantha veetla naai pukuntha maari, ulla vanthuruchu?"
